The Fuel of Death-Defying Missions

This is one of the best sermons I’ve ever heard. David Platt’s passion for the gospel and love of Jesus Christ are very, very, evident. Your soul will be enriched, your love for Christ increased, and your burden for sharing the gospel will become great.

From Farms to Garbage Cans

From Farms to Garbage Cans

This is a great post on The Gospel Coalition about waste. People have been saying this for years, but people aren’t heeding them to this day.

Read C. S. Lewis!

I’ve always been a fan of the Chronicles of Narnia-to the point where I have the books memorized. I recently decided to delve into his other works, and am greatly profiting from them. No, I’m not endorsing every single word of his books-that’s part of the thoughtfulness required while reading his stuff. Here’s what I’ve enjoyed from his works:

  • Writing Style
This is a vague statement, but, as any Lewis fan could tell you, Jack’s engaging, conversational writing style is most definitely unique-but not in the bad sense of the word. You’re sure to fall in love with his descriptive, immersive writing.
  • Deep Writing
Lewis doesn’t really delve into deep theology or use another language, but be warned: Don’t read Lewis lightly. None of his sentences are wasted. Each packs meaning and requires thought. No, none of us will ever get everything he talks about or references, but reading him thoughtfully is most illuminating.
  • Spiritual Themes
Even his books that don’t have a Christian theme still have much Christian content. No, don’t use the word allegory for Narnia. Lewis would not have liked that! But there are so, so, many spiritual themes. Lewis draws from theology and his past experiences a ton in the books. If you read one of his books, I would recommend reading a “guide” through it that’ll help reveal some of the hidden things.

Take the challenge and read on.
