I had time to type out a one-handed persuasive report for school(I’m getting better at typing with one hand), so I randomly picked Great White Sharks. Not sure why…
Maybe you’ve read the book, “Jaws” or watched the movie(not saying I have; I haven’t done either and wouldn’t want to), and you’re of the opinion that great white sharks are huge ferocious blood-thirsty beasts that tear apart humans who happen to be swimming near them. I think I can prove that this is not the truth. It is true that Great White Sharks are one of the 4 kinds of sharks that will eat humans, but not by preference. Great White Sharks are large sharks that you can find near all the big oceans. They can get up to 20 ft. in length, and are grey/white in colour. Their favorite food is seals, which is why they may attack humans sometimes. They mistake the outline of a surfboard or swimmer for their favorite food, and so attack. In reality, they would much rather have a tasty seal than a human. Great White Sharks usually only wound because they find out that what they thought was seal is, in reality, a human. These sharks have been notice taking bites out of buoys, pieces of floating wood, ect. to see what they are like. Scientists think that is the other main factor for attacks on humans. Since 2000, Great white sharks have only attacked humans 66 times, while only 14 of these attacks killed someone. I think you can see why Great White Sharks aren’t the human blood-thirsty creatures you may have thought them to be. This does not mean they aren’t guilty of killing and eating humans even after realizing their mistake, but certainly not as much as people may think. Here are some pictures from Wikipedia:
Here is a picture comparing a quarter to Great White Shark teeth, and Great White Shark Teeth to a tooth of their ancestors.
